Dawa

Dawa lost her mother 12 years ago. In many cases this would have meant she would have had to stay at home and look after the home and family. Despite this and the 3 hour journey across difficult terrain each day, she was able to stay in school. Impressively, we believe she is the first girl from the village to complete the SLC. With the help of the scholarship, she is now hoping to become an English teacher in her village....

Sapekhchya

Sapekhchya lost her father to the massive 7.9 ML earthquake of 25th April 2015 and was left with five siblings and a widowed mother. She wants to pursue higher studies in ‘Education’ faculty and eventually contribute to development of health and education sectors in her community. She passed her SLC Examinations with 52.375% and understanding the family scenario after the earthquake, she chose to study in her village for higher level studies to be a support for her family too. ...

When Malati’s father died, she was married off at a young age. Fortunately, she managed to convince her new family to allow her to continue attending school for another 2 years to complete the SLC. Now that she has been awarded a scholarship she will be able to continue her studies and hopes to become an English teacher.
