Teachers

Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds can make a lasting impact in our schools, be it through classroom support, running sports, drama, social/ cultural activities or improving facilities. However, volunteers with a teaching background are especially valued by partners as they can come alongside to support the staff and headteachers to co-design education resources and improve teaching and assessment skills. Alongside this, volunteers can support and reinforce Mondo’s Quality Education approach, which has been co-developed with schools. You can learn more about this programme here.

As a Teacher volunteer you have the opportunity to...
  • Live with a host family for 1-3 months and immerse yourself in the local culture
  • Learn about the challenges schools face with limited resources
  • Teach English and other subjects, and design lesson plans as agreed with staff
  • Support Mondo’s Quality Education Programme by helping staff to evaluate the impact of their work
  • Share ideas with local teachers, introducing new activities and approaches in the classroom
  • Contribute your ideas and relevant experience to enrich the schools’ education programmes

“My teaching experience allowed me to focus my time on key issues, as agreed with the headmaster. The dynamic was mutually beneficial, both as a cultural exchange and as a way to share knowledge and skills. I have certainly learned some valuable skills to take back to my classroom in the UK.” – Ruth, teacher volunteer, India
